June Directing Intensive
June 17-21, 2010
1:00
p.m. Thursday to 5:30 PM Monday
~For Advanced Students (with at least 450 hours of training) and
Certified Practitioners, PATS and TEPS~
Limited to
Nine Participants. Everyone directs a full two-hour psychodrama session;
everyone gets to be a protagonist.
The role of
the director includes the producer, the social investigator, the group
facilitator, the analyst/guide, the conflict manger, the sociometrist
and more. This intensive will give advanced student directors the chance
to explore these many functions. Each participant get to direct a full
two-hour psychodrama group including warm up, action and sharing. Each
will have the opportunity to be the protagonist in his or her own drama.
There will be close to an hour devoted to processing each session with
an emphasis on both theory and practice.
This training
offers the chance to take a look at what you are doing that works well
(and why it works!). We will also take a look at where you get stuck
in the process of directing (and why you get stuck in that particular
spot). As a group, we look at psychodrama theory and how it can inform
our choices of action to further facilitate the drama. It gives you
the chance to hone your craft as well as a safe place to be protagonist
in your own drama.
For Certified
Practitioners, PATS and TEPS; Many practitioners, having "graduated"
from their training group, no longer have the opportunity to enjoy being
part of a group, nor get the chance to be a protagonist in their own
psychodrama. This intensive will give you the opportunity to do both,
as well as to get role relief from being the one in charge, the director,
the group leader. Come enjoy being a group member, and hone your craft
all at the same time!
For Advanced
Students: Many advanced students bemoan the limited directing opportunities
in their own training groups. Their directing experience is mainly on
their jobs with group members of various functioning levels as well
as varied experience with psychodrama This intensive guarantees you
a chance to direct a group of your peers. It is expected that you will
have previously directed at least five psychodramas or have permission
of trainer. The psychodrama community is rich with diversity of background
and theoretical orientation. Because your fellow group members will
have trained with a variety of trainers, discussions will be enriched
by a variety perspectives and training backgrounds. . It also offers
a great practice session for your on-site for those of you who are getting
close to certification.
Rebecca is
committed to creating a warm, relaxed and humor filled environment that
encourages spontaneity and reduces the anxiety that often accompanies
directing in front of one's peers. Her position is that everyone has
to make at least twelve mistakes or she won't have anything to talk
about! (And don't forget to ask her about the first time she directed
in front of her trainer and forgot to ask the protagonist what the issue
was they were going to work on).
Register early!
