Learn CREATIVE ACTION TECHNIQUES and experiential structures that will enliven your work with groups of all sorts. You will have the opportunity to learn how to design such activities for your own groups.


A variety of time tested creative warm ups and how to design your own, to build safety, create group cohesion and uncover commonalities including:

Sociometric Exercises
Interactive Chair Work
Human Treasure Hunt
Object Identification

Experience action structures and experiential exercises that are guaranteed to engage the group and increase group members' focus. Get your group members involved through such structures as:

Sociodramatic Chair Work.
Tug of War
Future Projections
Empty Chair
Relationship Sculptures

Practice activities that can be used to create healthy closure at the end of individual group sessions AND at the end of an ongoing group with exercises help to concretize and integrate the learning such as:

Spectrograms and Logograms:
The Well
Group sculpture
The Door

The cost of this workshop is $110 if registration is postmarked before April 10th, $125 after.

The hours are 9-5 and it offers 6.5 hours of CEUS

7 Continuing education units provided by this training are accepted by National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) and are accepted by NYS OASAS, National Board of Certified Counselors and towards recertification requirements for the National Registry of Group Psychotherapist as well as 7 hours towards certification by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama and Group Psychotherapy.

Rebecca Walters,M.S., TEP*, LMHC, LCAT is the founder and co-director of the Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute in New Paltz, NY since 1989. She is the Director of Adolescent and Child Psychodrama Services at Four Winds Psychiatric Hospital in Westchester, NY, She is also the director of the psychodrama internship program at Four Winds. Rebecca has run groups with children, adolescents and adults since 1976.

Rebecca Walters is a Fellow of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, and along with Judy Swallow was the recipient of the ASGPP 2005 Collaborators Award for her work in the fields of psychodrama, sociometry and group psychotherapy. She is certified as a *Trainer, Educator and Practitioner by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy. She is licensed in NYS as a Creative Arts Therapist and as a Mental Health Counselor.

As a trainer she is known for her warmth, sensitivity, humor and clarity.
